At least 11 people were injured and taken to hospitals in Worcester after a shuttle carrying UMass Memorial Health employees crashed with another car Wednesday morning, a spokesperson for the hospital said.

The shuttle, carrying eight employees and a driver, was traveling from the employee parking garage to the University Campus when the crash occurred with another car, a spokesperson from the hospital said. The hospital said everyone from the shuttle and likely two people from the other vehicle were taken to the UMass’ University and Memorial campuses as well as Saint Vincent Hospital.

Police called the crash “serious” and closed North Road and the accompanying entrance at UMass Memorial Medical Center to reconstruct the crash. The road has since reopened.

Initially, police said seven people were hospitalized in the crash, including one person who was ejected from a vehicle.

A spokesperson for UMass Memorial Health said the conditions of the people involved in the crash is still being determined.
